I've got a dream.

Most girls desperately pursue a search for their Prince Charming amongst the suitors who come to call. Although you could label me a dreamer with an extreme amount of accuracy, I do not yearn for this kind of man. Instead, I am waiting patiently (more or less) for my Eugene Fitzherbert.

This is me when it comes to Eugene. No lie.

There are numerous reasons as to why I prefer my Eugene over Charming, but in the end it comes down to the fact he is a man who:

knows how to make a great first impression.

would be able to withstand my quickly alternating shifts in disposition.

can be serious, but is very lighthearted.

embraces the way I constantly marvel at the mysteries of the world.

is willing to participate in crazy activities that make absolutely no sense and could possibly be embarrassing.

does not mind defending his distressed damsel.

designs creative adventures in which for us to partake together.

demonstrates a certain charm with animals.

will dance with me, even if he has two left feet.

has mastered the world's most lethal weapon: The Smolder.

has the strength and courage to do what is right regardless of the intimidating consequences.

"sees the light," as in the True Light of Christ.

~

Add in his rugged handsome features and Eugene Fitzherbert is my dream. But, there is one trait about him that made me fall head over heels:

He is not perfect.

When he first stumbles upon Rapunzel (or, more accurately, invades her tower), it was an attempt to hide from the law. His occupation was a selfish one as he had just stolen the lost princess's tiara from her family's castle. His face was plastered on wanted posters all across the kingdom. He was far from being free from sin.

It is for this reason that he is my favorite. Disney did not portray him as a man who was not attainable. I know that I am a far cry from being perfect, so why should I expect my man to be immaculate? To me, Prince Charming is too good to be true because he is without mistake. It is through Eugene's flaws that I realize I crave a guy who is going to understand that I sin and strengthen me to ask for God's forgiveness.

Future husband? I hope that you are reading this and know that I am saving myself for you. I also pray that you are preparing yourself for a lifetime of adventure because my heart is pretty set on exploring everything this magical world has to offer.

Oh darling, don't you ever grow up.

I never understood Peter Pan when I was younger. The adult world seemed so fascinating and luring to my innocent eyes. My older cousins made teenage years appear so glorious that I could not help but envy their maturity. I longed for the age when I would finally become one of these stately individuals who blinded me with their regality.

Why, oh why, was I so delusional?

"To you, everything's funny.
You got nothing to regret.
I'd give all I have, honey,
if you could stay like that.

Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
Just stay this little.
Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
It could stay this simple.

I won't let nobody hurt you,
won't let no one break your heart.
No, no one will desert you.
Just try to never grow up, never grow up."
Never Grow up by Taylor Swift

Please, Peter. I'm begging you. Come fetch me so we can fly off together and never grow up.

Happy Birthday, America.

To celebrate Independence Day this year, some of our friends joined my sisters and I in designing our own attire to wear to our little town's 4th of July celebration. I took pictures along the way, but please note that most of the creativity was flowing at night so the photos are not too fabulous.

Shirt #1

The idea for this shirt developed from Pinterest and was one of my favorite projects. It allowed me to cover my entire left hand with blue paint and take on the resemblance of a Smurf. The red lines came from my finger dragging across the fabric. It was simple to make and tons of fun to wear.

What is the first thing my cat does when I lay my shirt on my bed? He sprawls on top to claim it.

Shirt #2

For those of you who are blissfully inaware, I am a Doctor Who nerd. While my siblings and friends were working diligently on their shorts, I wanted to try something a bit different. I printed some stencils and painted myself a new Whovian tee.

I am very proud. :D The awkwardness arose when my father popped the question as to why I was advising others to not blink. My friend's mom (fellow Whovian) and I locked eyes. She attempted to explain but it is more difficult than you can imagine. My recommendation is to simply watch the show. ;)

Shorts

The shorts were by far my most time-consuming project but I was very pleased with the final result.

I painted the entire front of the shorts blue before applying the use of a star stencil and going crazy with white paint. The stars were then given a second coat of paint to allow them to pop.

The back-pockets were painted red to provide a background for the scene I was to create.

FIREWORKS!

This picture did not turn out clear but after I painted the white streaks, I added the blue to provide more color to my fireworks.

The final result of the painting after I had applied a second coat to each color.

It is not possible to have fireworks without sparkle.

I am a girl; I am addicted to sparkles. Need I say more?

Don't you laugh at my webcam's fuzziness. She's special but I love her anyways.

My outfit to the celebration consisted of the first shirt and my completed shorts.
You cannot see, but I had a lace headband pinning my curly blonde hair down. My sister and I were both shielding our headbands throughout the day because our friends have a history of snapping our bands against our foreheads. One friend labeled me Sacagawea while the rest of our companions gave us the title of hippies. All in all, we looked extremely festive while we had a blast celebrating our beautiful nation's independence.

Happy 237th birthday, America. Make it a great one.

Guest Posting

After some screaming and jumping around the room like a lunatic, I sat down at my laptop to reply yes to Sierra's question about guest posting on her blog. So in case you are all wondering, that is where  you may find this week's post. Go check her out at her blog Keep Growing Beautiful!

Sierra is a gorgeous girl, inside and out, and is one of my best blogger buddies. She is the one who doesn't mind my fangirling over books (because she does the exact same thing) and is always there to help me create a new evil plot. This girl is the Tesseract to my Loki.

Go ahead and check her out! I will give you a cookie if you do. What kind of cookie you may ask? A delicious one.

a small gesture.

so many emotions surge through my veins whenever you allow your fingers to brush against mine. my stomach clenches with the anticipation of what is to come. my breath becomes prisoner in my own chest. all of the nerves my body possesses anxiously await the return of the intoxicating sensations you bestow upon me. my mind becomes limited in capacity as your palm presses against mine. the ability for my mouth to form words is lost as your fingers join with my own. my concentration belongs solely to you in this moment. the ground could be giving way underneath our feet and i would never know. the feeling of our hands so closely entwined provides me the strength to take on the world. only you are able to present me with protection and security in such a simple gesture.

the only sensation that surpasses these is the devastating angst that settles deep in my heart when our joined hands must be separated. however, i am reassured by your alluring grin that i will not be coerced to suffer for long before our hands reunite once again.

I'm baaack! It was amazing to be able to see all of my family and also be able to visit the beach for three days straight. The biggest shock?

*drumroll*

I did not get burnt! Woo! I even received a tan! To anyone else, I would probably still appear pale but it is slightly darker than the rest of my skin so I am considering it my tan.

On a subject unrelated to tans, my cousin's wedding was absolutely gorgeous. I could not help but cry when it came for the groom to read his vows to my cousin. Waterworks were going on in the front row. My favorite part of the night happened to be the reception. It was so much fun to dance maniacally with all of my cousins and celebrate the joyous occasion. I even busted out a few moves of my own with one of my younger cousins while everyone chanted our names. The worst part is that I cannot dance. Talk about embarrassing. But hey, they are family. They are forced to love me anyways.

Even with my horrendous dancing skills.

Perfection

In case you have not noticed by now, I am not perfect. I have not been, am not, and will never be able to hold the honor of perfection.

And you know what? This does not bother me. Although I wish dearly that I could prove myself and always do what is right, I know that I will fail. I am aware that no matter how much I resist, I will be tempted with sin for my entire life.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23

The truth that I cling to is that I will not have to fight this battle on my own. I know without a shadow of a doubt that God is by my side. It is through Him that I am cleansed and can become as close to perfect as I can be in my earthly body. I anxiously await the day that I will be able to be clothed in garbs as white as freshly fallen snow and know that I am indeed perfect.

~

I am off to the beach, my lovelies. My attempts to gain a tan will most likely backfire (like they always do) and I will return looking like this guy:

Teehee.

Whom Shall I Fear?

I do not know about you guys, but I have multiple fears. There are a few that are logical and make sense for me to fear, for example, snakes, heights without something to secure me, needles, and objects propelling rapidly towards my face. On the other hand, there are a few that are just quite ridiculous. One of these irrational fears was revealed to all my friends this past Thursday

My homeschool group took a trip to SeaWorld on that fateful day. I have grown up at the beach so marine creatures are nothing new to me, but I adored every moment of the trip. My friends and I all rode the roller coasters and had the best time. I rode every single roller coaster there without any hesitation. I adore flips, turns, and the rush of adrenaline that courses through my veins as I embark on the wild journey. I participated in every ride in the park, but the one situation that terrified the bubbles out of me? An aquarium that you walk over to see the fish.

I am not joking in the least bit. I was so petrified at the thought of stepping onto a glass surface to witness the fish and sharks nonchalantly paddling underneath. Even my mother did not comprehend my horror. She instead continued her attempts to persuade me to venture out onto the glass death trap. I eventually was forced to join everyone out on the aquarium, but was frozen in fear as I noticed that there was a glass aquarium above us as well. It was through assistance of my friend that I was able to remove myself from the despicable perilous circumstance.

It wasn't even the critters that I was nervous about. I just had this insane notion that the structure beneath my feet was going to break!

This isn't even the first time this fear as been introduced in my life. Ever since I was little, I have been frightened by these:

Storm drains. *shudders*

Look at them! What if a semi had parked on it the night before? What if an obese person had been standing on this certain storm drain just before I had to cross over it? An elephant could have been practicing his tap dance routine on it the previous day for all I know! The reasons as to why this storm drain would immediately collapse after I set foot on it are limitless.

This fear does not end at storm drains. If I can see the ground through the structure, I am struck with terror.

This is beautiful. I would cross this bridge any day. The height would not bother me in the least.

Now this? You can see the water through the slats! Just for that reason, the bridge must be instable, in my opinion. That is the kind of bridge that would crumble underneath me if I attempted to venture across into the opposite side of the forest. Even if you put an entire stack of books and a lifetime supply of oreos on the other side of this bridge, I would never ever ever even consider traversing to the further end.

I have been reminded countless times that everything is in God's hands. But, is it that horrible of me to not want to tempt Him by stepping onto the storm drain? I mean, I really do not want to fall into the dark abyss that lies beneath me and be consumed by a sewer alligator.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9

He will be with me even across the storm drains? Even across those blasted storm drains. My God is with me wherever I go.

This post did not really have a point. There has only been a few people with whom I have divulged this secret fear with, so consider yourselves fortunate. You can laugh at me all you wish. My own mother was chuckling when I told her that I was scared that the glass of the aquarium was going to break beneath me. I guess the real reason for this post was an attempt to discover if I was the only person who experienced a strange fear.

So, let it out, what's a strange fear of yours? I promise none of us will laugh. :)

Small Words Can Have Giant Impacts

They've made me feel like a prisoner.
They've made me feel set free.
They've made me feel like a criminal.
Made me feel like a king.

They've lifted my heart to places I'd never been.
And they've dragged me down back to where I began.

Words can build you up.
Words can break you down.
Start a fire in your heart, or put it out.

Let my words be life.
Let my words be truth.
I don't want to say a word unless it points the world back to You.
Words by Hawk Nelson

For the past few weeks, this song has been in my mind. I cannot shake it. I have an awful habit of letting my words leave my mouth before I fully think them through. I want to work on this. My goal is to glorify God with my words. Nothing impure should leave my lips because my words reflect what is in my heart.

Currently, I am

-finishing up with homework for the night.
-searching pinterest just for the joy of it.
-flipping out over a late birthday package in the mail. (I LOVE YOU, GIRL.)
-thanking said friend for a wonderful Captain America t-shirt along with my own copy of Divergent. *insert fangirl squealing*
-thanking friend's sister for my new One Direction t-shirt. Y'all are the best!
-trying to get over the sickness that Sierra and Meena passed on to me. Somehow you transferred the virus to me through the computer. Your skills boggle my mind.
-failing a staring contest with my cat.
-getting excited about prom on Friday.

Sweet dreams, lovelies. I am off to bed.
