A rainy day fashion show.

After a great reaction from my 4th of July and Don't Blink t-shirts, I thought I would try my hand at painting other designs on a dress and a few different styles of shirts.

Besides, it is always fun to set up a bed sheet and begin your own miniature modeling session with your siblings.

Post Scriptum: This college girl is in need of cash, so if you are interested in a painted shirt of your own (I'm not limited to Doctor Who), please don't hesitate to ask. You will be my best friend.

Post Scriptum II: Shout out to Aimeebob for being my first customer and providing me the courage to do this. You rock, darling. :)

Be extraordinary.

I've got a dream.

Most girls desperately pursue a search for their Prince Charming amongst the suitors who come to call. Although you could label me a dreamer with an extreme amount of accuracy, I do not yearn for this kind of man. Instead, I am waiting patiently (more or less) for my Eugene Fitzherbert.

This is me when it comes to Eugene. No lie.

There are numerous reasons as to why I prefer my Eugene over Charming, but in the end it comes down to the fact he is a man who:

knows how to make a great first impression.

would be able to withstand my quickly alternating shifts in disposition.

can be serious, but is very lighthearted.

embraces the way I constantly marvel at the mysteries of the world.

is willing to participate in crazy activities that make absolutely no sense and could possibly be embarrassing.

does not mind defending his distressed damsel.

designs creative adventures in which for us to partake together.

demonstrates a certain charm with animals.

will dance with me, even if he has two left feet.

has mastered the world's most lethal weapon: The Smolder.

has the strength and courage to do what is right regardless of the intimidating consequences.

"sees the light," as in the True Light of Christ.

Add in his rugged handsome features and Eugene Fitzherbert is my dream. But, there is one trait about him that made me fall head over heels:

He is not perfect.

When he first stumbles upon Rapunzel (or, more accurately, invades her tower), it was an attempt to hide from the law. His occupation was a selfish one as he had just stolen the lost princess's tiara from her family's castle. His face was plastered on wanted posters all across the kingdom. He was far from being free from sin.

It is for this reason that he is my favorite. Disney did not portray him as a man who was not attainable. I know that I am a far cry from being perfect, so why should I expect my man to be immaculate? To me, Prince Charming is too good to be true because he is without mistake. It is through Eugene's flaws that I realize I crave a guy who is going to understand that I sin and strengthen me to ask for God's forgiveness.

Future husband? I hope that you are reading this and know that I am saving myself for you. I also pray that you are preparing yourself for a lifetime of adventure because my heart is pretty set on exploring everything this magical world has to offer.

Oh darling, don't you ever grow up.

I never understood Peter Pan when I was younger. The adult world seemed so fascinating and luring to my innocent eyes. My older cousins made teenage years appear so glorious that I could not help but envy their maturity. I longed for the age when I would finally become one of these stately individuals who blinded me with their regality.

Why, oh why, was I so delusional?

"To you, everything's funny.
You got nothing to regret.
I'd give all I have, honey,
if you could stay like that.

Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
Just stay this little.
Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
It could stay this simple.

I won't let nobody hurt you,
won't let no one break your heart.
No, no one will desert you.
Just try to never grow up, never grow up."
Never Grow up by Taylor Swift

Please, Peter. I'm begging you. Come fetch me so we can fly off together and never grow up.

Happy Birthday, America.

To celebrate Independence Day this year, some of our friends joined my sisters and I in designing our own attire to wear to our little town's 4th of July celebration. I took pictures along the way, but please note that most of the creativity was flowing at night so the photos are not too fabulous.

Shirt #1

The idea for this shirt developed from Pinterest and was one of my favorite projects. It allowed me to cover my entire left hand with blue paint and take on the resemblance of a Smurf. The red lines came from my finger dragging across the fabric. It was simple to make and tons of fun to wear.

What is the first thing my cat does when I lay my shirt on my bed? He sprawls on top to claim it.

Shirt #2

For those of you who are blissfully inaware, I am a Doctor Who nerd. While my siblings and friends were working diligently on their shorts, I wanted to try something a bit different. I printed some stencils and painted myself a new Whovian tee.

I am very proud. :D The awkwardness arose when my father popped the question as to why I was advising others to not blink. My friend's mom (fellow Whovian) and I locked eyes. She attempted to explain but it is more difficult than you can imagine. My recommendation is to simply watch the show. ;)

Shorts

The shorts were by far my most time-consuming project but I was very pleased with the final result.

I painted the entire front of the shorts blue before applying the use of a star stencil and going crazy with white paint. The stars were then given a second coat of paint to allow them to pop.

The back-pockets were painted red to provide a background for the scene I was to create.

FIREWORKS!

This picture did not turn out clear but after I painted the white streaks, I added the blue to provide more color to my fireworks.

The final result of the painting after I had applied a second coat to each color.

It is not possible to have fireworks without sparkle.

I am a girl; I am addicted to sparkles. Need I say more?

Don't you laugh at my webcam's fuzziness. She's special but I love her anyways.

My outfit to the celebration consisted of the first shirt and my completed shorts.
You cannot see, but I had a lace headband pinning my curly blonde hair down. My sister and I were both shielding our headbands throughout the day because our friends have a history of snapping our bands against our foreheads. One friend labeled me Sacagawea while the rest of our companions gave us the title of hippies. All in all, we looked extremely festive while we had a blast celebrating our beautiful nation's independence.

Happy 237th birthday, America. Make it a great one.
