The Avengers Go to Walmart

There comes a time when you just need to break free. When you yearn to be different than the mold society is trying to force you into. Those are the times you should not turn to your sister for advice.

Maybe you have a sister that is different than mine. Quite possibly yours could have suggested baking cookies for your elderly neighbor, designing a new instrument to play, or even just simply painting your nails a color unlike the previous ones you have adorned.

My sister is a bit more unique.

So at 8pm last night as we were roaming the toy department of Walmart, we discover these beauties:

She throws on the Captain America mask before I even  knew what hit me. I lost my baby CA that quickly.

I wasn't on board with her whole plan in the beginning, but after we had left the toy department and she was still wearing the mask, I eventually gave in and became Iron Woman. We were a team. The only thing we were missing was her shield and my full-body metal suit.

She and I walked the entire Walmart store feeling like superheros. We received some weird looks, but the smiles from the kids made it all worth it. My sister even acquired a salute from a little boy and I was high-fived from an adult who apparently was a fan as well. It was all so amazing and I laughed the entire way through the store. We took pictures but I am not positive on how to get them off my daddy's phone.

If I haven't mentioned it before on my blog, I'll say it now: I love my sister. She has spirit and will never be a conformer. The confidence she has in herself amazes me. I wish I could be as strong as her. I am sorry, sis, if I don't tell you enough, but you mean the world to me. You hold a larger place in my heart than Captain America does, which you know is saying a bunch. Even though you frustrate me at times, I will always love you because you are not afraid to be yourself. Which, yourself is pretty dadgum spectacular if you ask me.

~

Before I end this post I would just like to thank you all for your sweet birthday wishes. I could not ask for better friends and followers. You guys are all so amazing and deserve a hug.

I would like to personally thank:

Sierra. You are just phenomenal. I adore you so much and wish that we lived closer so we could go hit the libraries together and fangirl with the librarians.

Meena. Girl...you have a voice, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Your video was so super sweet. I cried the entire way through it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Seventeen is a Number of Wonder

I looked over my Sixteen While Sixteen list that I had created on this exact day last year. I am pretty proud of how it turned out.

1. Make a list of 1,000 things I am thankful for
I am not all the way there yet but I am not going to ever stop.
2. Go horseback riding on the beach
3. Take a college class
Completed!
4. Stay up an entire night
Completed 3/23-3/24/12
5. Blog every day for 2 weeks
6. Complete my Year-Without-Soda challenge (Ends December 9th)
I am proud to say I completed this and am still going strong without soda.
7. Go camping
I actually did this! Go me!
8. Try something new
So many new things occured this year. I can definitely say I completed this.
9. Keep a journal
I kept a journal during my New York missions trip this past summer. :))
10. Learn to play an instrument
11. Drive a total of 50 hours
All of my friends are surprised I haven't hit anything yet...those boogers. -_-
12. Be a penpal to someone
KayleeBeth...Meena...Molly...Mackenzie...my loves. <3 div="">
13. Send a care package to soldiers in another country
I think this was my favorite :)
14. Host a caption contest
15. Go on an adventure
I'm considering my missions trip to New York without any of my family members as an adventure because I was absolutely terrified.
16. Hold a snake on my own (I am conquering my greatest fear, people)
You cannot imagine how thankful I am I did not run into the chance to cross this off my list.

~

9 of out 16 items completed. I am not even mad. This year was so amazing for me. I was able to begin my dual-enrollement in college, drive, play soccer, make new friends, go on a few adventures with the ones I love, and just live life. What more could I ask for?

I guess all that's left for me to say now is,

Seventeen?

I will not let you have anything but amazing memories and thrilling exploits for me.

You don't scare me anymore.

Bring it on.

200th post!

What better way to celebrate I'm a Jesus Chick reaching two hundred posts than to have a Smile a Little Mond- whoops...Thursday post?

Mulan. Just...yes.

I want this so badly. I cannot even explain my need for this blanket.

St. Paddy's Day

I am embracing my Irish roots and celebrating Green Day by pinning dozens of pictures of my favorite leprechaun on pinterest. You're welcome. :)

Both my mother and I forgot to wear green this morning so in church I pinched her. In return, she punched me in the leg and I bursted out laughing in the middle of service. Whoops.

Lesson for the Day: Never mess with momma.

Tips for when you visit your State Capitol

There are a long list of dos and don'ts when you decide to take a field trip to your State's Capitol. Let me just clue you in on a few:

Do find some slightly younger guy-friends to embarrass by making them hold your hand as you cross the street.

Don't let yourself get distracted by the flowers blooming on the walkways up to the Capitol. You might get left behind.

Do make sure you use your inside voice while in the musuem. This do applies even when you become excited about seeing a person dressed up in a manatee costume (even though it had no tail which is still confusing me).

Don't leave the Capitol until you get a picture with previously-mentioned tail-less aquatic mammal.

Do make sure you keep your belongings on you at all times.

Don't leave your jacket on the 22nd story of the building after you run up 20 floors by means of stairs. You will not be getting it back. (twin...*stares at sister*)

Do stay close to the group and resist wandering off. (other twin...*stares at both sisters*)

Don't forget to wear any items of clothing that reflect your preferred college football team because you might be entering the territory of your main rival.

Do take pictures of you and your friends Tebowing in front of said rival college.

Don't let your idiot friend try to trip you in the cafeteria in front of all of the State Representatives.

Do find a hand to hold so you don't get lost (♥)

That's about it! This tips may or may not be from personal experience...just trust me on this.
("Trust me, I'm the Doctor." I couldn't resist. XD )

The Unexpected

sometimes, the unexpected happens. one moment you are a firm believer in pursuing a future as a nun and the next you find yourself infatuated. you did not believe it could happen but he makes you feel whole again. his smile gently soothes your old scars. that laugh of his works wonders on repairing your heart. the way his arms wrap around you in an embrace helps you realise not all guys are out to injure you. his fingers entwine with yours, assuring you that he will never leave you like he did. those sparkling eyes of his see every scar, every flaw, and yet still love you regardless. the way he holds your heart in the palm of his hands takes your breath away.

sometimes, the unexpected is the best thing that could ever happen to you.

How have you all been?! I have missed blogging but I needed to take a break. My posts were starting to get me in trouble with my friends, but you know what? This is my blog. This is I can escape and put my thoughts into words. If they cannot understand that I sometimes have to throw away my "everything's fine" cover and let loose, I do not believe they are true friends. I am not going to worry about them anymore. I am just going to be myself. :)

And besides, it's not a time to be sad! I turn seventeen in seventeen days. Wait...that is a reason to be sad. I don't wanna grow up!
